Use Data Management & Backup Safely

Use Data Management & Backup safely so you know which controls protect your data, which ones reset only preferences, and which ones permanently delete information.

When To Use

Step-By-Step Guide
Open the Data Management & Backup section
This section lives inside Settings.
Open Settings from the sidebar or mobile menu.
- You should see Settings with sections such as support, export, and Data Management & Backup.
Find the card titled Data Management & Backup before using any reset or deletion controls.
- You should see actions labeled Download Backup, Restore Backup, Reset Settings, Clear All Data, and, for cloud accounts, Delete My Account.
- You are now looking at the exact settings section that owns backup and deletion tools.
Use the safe maintenance actions first
These are the controls that most users need most often.
Click Download Backup to save a full copy of your database, including images, before imports, cleanup, or large edits.
- A backup file should download so you can store it somewhere safe.
Click Restore Backup and choose a previously saved JSON backup file only when you intentionally want to replace the current data with the backup contents.
- Restore Backup overwrites current data, so stop if you were only trying to look at a file or make a safety copy.
Click Reset Settings when you want to restore theme, layout, navigation, dashboard, and pedigree styles to defaults without deleting rabbits or records.
- Your app preferences should reset to defaults while your rabbits and rabbitry data stay intact.
- You know which actions are for backup, restore, and safe preference reset.
Treat destructive actions differently
These controls are not minor cleanup buttons.
The Factory Reset area uses the Clear All Data button. This permanently deletes all data and resets the application.
- Factory Reset is destructive. It is not the same as Reset Settings.
If Delete My Account is visible, it permanently deletes your account and all associated data. It is intended for signed-in cloud accounts and cannot be undone.
- The account deletion flow warns that active subscriptions are canceled immediately and remaining time is not refunded.
- If you do not see Delete My Account, you may not be in a signed-in cloud-storage account state where account deletion is available.
- You now know the difference between deleting app data and deleting the account itself.

- You can point to the difference between Download Backup, Restore Backup, Reset Settings, Clear All Data, and Delete My Account.
