- On the Rabbits page, statuses are system routing values rather than customizable labels. They control organization, workflow eligibility, selectors, and where rabbits appear; they are not a substitute for logging sales.
- Custom sections let you create your own folder names, but each custom section requires an existing system status so Rabbitry Run knows how rabbits in that section should behave.
When To Use
- You are unsure whether a rabbit belongs in My Herd, Co-Breeding, Grow-Outs, For Sale, Pet, Cull, Inactive, or Ancestor Rabbits.
- You need to move a rabbit or several rabbits into a different section cleanly.
Step-By-Step Guide
Know what each rabbit section means
The sections on the Rabbits page are driven by system status.
My Herd is for current herd animals with Active status.
- These are the rabbits you actively manage as part of the main herd.
Co-Breeding is for rabbits tracked in a shared or co-breeding arrangement.
- This status helps keep those animals separate from your standard Active herd flow.
Grow-Outs is for juniors or developing rabbits that are not yet part of the main breeding herd.
- This keeps younger rabbits from crowding the main herd section.
For Sale is for rabbits you are offering or preparing to offer.
- For Sale status is tied into storefront and sales-related workflows.
Pet is for rabbits you still manage but want separated from breeding, grow-out, sale, or cull lists.
- Pet rabbits stay available for normal care workflows, but they do not appear in storefront listing setup unless you change them to For Sale.
Custom sections appear as their own Rabbits-page sections, but each one still uses a system status such as Active, For Sale, Pet, Cull, Sold, Deceased, Ancestor, or Co-Breeding.
- Moving a rabbit into a custom section applies that section's mapped status while keeping the rabbit in that custom section.
Inactive Sold and Inactive Deceased are the historical sections for rabbits no longer active, while Ancestor Rabbits is for pedigree support and history.
- Ancestor rabbits help keep pedigrees complete without cluttering day-to-day operational lists.
- You know which section a rabbit belongs in based on what that rabbit is doing now.
Choose the required status for a custom section
A custom section gives you a custom folder name, but it does not create a new status.
Use a name such as Prospects, Juniors, or Retired Does so the section is easy to recognize.
- The custom name controls the Rabbits-page label only.
The required system status controls workflow routing, selectors, and other eligibility rules for every rabbit moved into the section.
- Do not choose Active automatically if the section is really for Grow-outs, For Sale rabbits, pets, culls, or inactive history.
Rabbits must have For Sale status before they can appear in storefront listing setup.
- Map the custom section to For Sale, or move its rabbits to another section mapped to For Sale before preparing storefront listings.
Sold, Deceased, and Ancestor remove rabbits from normal active-management workflows and selectors.
- Sold status organizes inactive history but does not log a sale.
- Your custom section has a clear name and a deliberately selected system status that matches its workflow.
Move rabbits from the Rabbits page
Status cannot be edited directly from the rabbit profile, so section moves are the normal way to change status.
Open Rabbits and click Move Rabbits to enter selection mode.
- You should see row checkboxes, selection tools, and a destination selector for the new section.
Use the Move rabbits to selector to choose the section the selected rabbits should move into.
- The destination section applies the matching system status automatically.
Select one rabbit or several rabbits, then click Move Rabbits in the move panel.
- The selected rabbits should move into the destination section with the matching status.
- You can move rabbits by section without editing status directly on the profile.
Mark deceased rabbits from the rabbit profile
The profile has a special deceased workflow because death details live with the rabbit record.
Open the rabbit and use the Mark as deceased checkbox when the rabbit has died.
- Date of Death and Cause/reason of death fields should appear.
Enter the date of death and cause/reason of death if you want those details saved, then save the profile.
- Saving with Mark as deceased checked assigns Deceased status automatically.
After saving, return to Rabbits and open Inactive > Deceased.
- The rabbit should appear in the deceased inactive view.
- You know the deceased checkbox is the profile-side exception that assigns Deceased status and moves the rabbit automatically.
You're Done When
- You can match each Rabbits section to the status it represents.
- You can explain why every custom section requires a deliberately selected system status.

FAQ
Which section does each status use?
Active appears in My Herd, Co-Breeding in Co-Breeding, Grow-out in Grow-Outs, For Sale in For Sale, Pet in Pet, Cull in Cull, Sold and Deceased in Inactive, and Ancestor in Ancestor Rabbits. Custom sections use whichever system status you mapped to them.
Does changing status to Sold log a sale?
No. A Sold status only organizes the rabbit into the inactive sold section. Use Log Sale from Sales & Finances, from a rabbit profile that is marked For Sale, or from Log Sale on the Rabbits page when you need a sale record.
Why is a rabbit missing from storefront setup?
Storefront rabbit listings start from rabbits marked For Sale. Change the rabbit to For Sale first, then configure the public listing details.
Can I use a different Rabbit Sections layout on my phone and computer?
Yes. Customize Sections lets you choose Compact Dropdown, Scrollable Tabs, or Visible Buttons independently for screens below 640px and screens 640px or wider.
When To Contact Support
- A rabbit keeps appearing in the wrong section after you move it.
- Bulk section moves complete but the rabbits do not update to the expected target status.
