Overview
- Add Previous Litter is for historical or previous litters only. Current or active litters must be entered through Breeding → Litter.
- Historical-profile records contribute to kit totals, survival rates, litter averages, kits-weaned totals, reports, and doe-productivity statistics, but they never become current workflow records.
- Rabbitry Run creates a completed linked breeding for history while bypassing active tasks, due dates, milestones, kindle-outcome automation, and yield projections.
- A historical Weaning Date is optional. Only active litters completed through Breeding → Litter require one.
When To Use
- A rabbit had a litter before you began tracking it in Rabbitry Run.
- You want old litter counts and known kit details included in historical reports and productivity statistics.
- The other parent is not owned or does not yet have a rabbit record.

Step 1

Read the historical-record notice. Do not use this form for a current or active litter; open Breeding and follow Breeding → Litter instead.

Step 3
Select the known parent and mate. If the mate is not in Rabbitry Run, choose Other and enter the manual parent details. Rabbitry Run creates or reuses a non-owned Ancestor instead of saving an unresolved placeholder.

Step 4
Enter the historical date, outcome, born-alive and loss counts, and other known litter information. Failed or false-pregnancy history can also be preserved.

Add any known kit information, including name, sex, color, tattoo or ear number, notes, weights, and deceased details. Unknown kit fields can remain blank unless you select that kit for a Grow-out profile.

Step 6
For each known live kit that should have its own herd record, turn on Create Grow-out profile. A selected kit must have a name. Rabbitry Run creates it as an owned Grow-out with its rabbitry prefix, birth date, parents, litter and source-kit links, and the kit details you entered.

Step 7
Enter Total Weaned when known. Selecting Grow-out profiles automatically keeps Total Weaned at least as high as the selected profile count, while unselecting one does not lower a larger total you entered.

Step 8
The Weaning Date is optional for a historical Previous Litter, even when Total Weaned is greater than zero or Grow-out profiles are selected. Enter it only when you know the actual date; Rabbitry Run never guesses or defaults a historical date to today. Active litters completed through Breeding → Litter still require a weaning date.

Choose Add Previous Litter. The litter is forced into Previous Litters and its synthetic linked breeding is completed without generating active work.

Review Previous Litters and reports. Historical litter counts contribute to statistics, including kit totals and doe productivity, while current-litter views, tasks, milestones, due dates, and yield projections remain unchanged. The outcome consistently says N Weaned.

Edit the litter or kit information normally when corrections are needed. Deleting this historical entry removes its litter and synthetic linked breeding together but retains reusable manual Ancestors and independently managed Grow-out profiles; obsolete litter and source-kit links are cleared from those profiles.

Common Mistakes
- Using Add Previous Litter for a current pregnancy or active litter.
- Assuming historical statistics mean the litter also becomes part of active due-date or task workflows.
- Creating a duplicate manual mate when the same Ancestor record already exists.
- Selecting Create Grow-out profile without naming the kit. A historical Weaning Date may be left blank when it is unknown.
If Something Still Looks Wrong
Why is the litter not under Current Litters?
That is intentional. Add Previous Litter always creates previous-only history.
Why are there no breeding tasks or milestones?
Historical-profile litters bypass active automation. Use Breeding → Litter for current workflow records.
Is a Weaning Date required for a Previous Litter?
No. It is optional for historical records, including records with weaned kits or linked Grow-out profiles. Enter it only when the actual date is known. Active litter completion through Breeding → Litter requires a date.
Does an older historical exclusion flag hide this litter from statistics?
No. For historical-profile records, the old automatically assigned exclusion flag is treated as obsolete without rewriting the stored record.
Why does a historical litter say Weaned — date not recorded?
Historical records may omit the weaning date when it is unknown. Rabbitry Run does not invent one; use Edit Litter to enter the actual date when known.
Where did a selected kit go after I created the previous litter?
It now appears as an owned rabbit in Grow-Outs. It is linked back to the litter but removed from the embedded kit list so reports do not count it twice.
